Check out this cool show I’m going to be in! I have my little cardboard robot from last summer.
This will be my second show at NOOK Gallery, the very cool headquarters of Steve Wilson and Clayton Hanmer of Trio Magnus!
And the extremely awesome and very famous Anita Kunz will be in this show!!! I’m so excited and honored to have my art shown alongside hers!
Come on by if your in Toronto on Friday! :)
Progress continues with my 15 foot Tin Canyon display! I’m having so much fun shifting gears and doing some sculpture work for a change.
There’s going to be 9 panels in total, and I’ve done about 6 so far! Not too bad for less than a week’s worth of work.
Duncan was kind of enough to lend a hand to help things move a little quicker! Thanks Dunc!
I hope to get all of the buildings finished this week, I’ll post more as it comes.
I also hope not to cut my fingers anymore. I’m so careful with a knife, but my goodness the foamcore has mighty sharp edges too!
Thanks for all the support and likes and reblogs. I love sharing this stuff with you!
Oh the holidays! Ever so fun.
The best of food, friends, and times.
Look how confident little ham is driving Santa’s gift giving tree. And poor Cat, doing his best to hold on to not only the tree, but his little hat too!
A print of this is available in my Society6 store.
100% of the profit I make on this print will be going to the Red Cross to help those in need in the Philippines.
I hope you in particular have a really wonderful holiday season! Tell me funny stories from the holidays, I’d love to do a doodle of them :)
Today I finally started what will be my 15 foot Tin Canyon wall display. I’m literally creating the town “Dungaree” from my short film Tin Canyon.
I’ll be posting lots of work in progress shots about the process right here on my Tumblr and all the way over here on my Instagram!
I’ve never created such a large display before. The biggest one I’ve done before this was about 2 years ago for my thesis, and even then I think I took about a month to do it! I have less than two months to get this done, and finish the film so wish me luck!
It’s going to be a whole lotta fun and a whole lotta work, but in the end it will all pay off! :D
If you’re in Toronto in late January, check out my room at the Gladstone Hotel’s Come Up To My Room!
Thanks for all the support and love, you guys are rocking the rocky rocks of rockwelly rockness.
Oh Hello You!
Together: Words+Pictures for Art & Culture is producing my short film, Tin Canyon! This snazzy awesome logo was designed by the always awesome Mr. Hector Herrera. Pazit Cahlon took my old beat up story and turned it into a beautiful ballad! To add to the awesome, we’re working with Juno Award-winning musician; Jayme Stone!
I’m so happy and excited to be working with them, and can’t wait to show you this super-neato film!
Thank you for all the love and support.
Oh my! Someone is taking a photo! Quick, let me put my arm around you in a familiar way that’s completely foreign to our relationship!
Seems a little odd that we do this as frequently as we do…
Reblog to help the turnip thing wriggle out of his photo hug!
Oh my! So excited to be published once again in Joesph Gordon Levitt’s HitRECord Tiny Book of Tiny Stories 3!
What a great day! Even if it is raining a little.
Now to celebrate Duncan’s birthday…and I hear that Yuls may have prepared some home made birthday cookies…
Thanks for all the support!
If you like me lookin’ like a weirdy weirdo, reblog it!
I drew this whale. He’s whaley and stuff.
Reblog it, it will make him even more whaley! (if you can believe a whale level of such high whaleness.)
I have been sick for a few days now… but I am very thankful to Yuliya for taking such good care of me, bringing me soup and such.
And now, a nostalgic rant.
I love Netflix. I love being able to stream any series that ever existed online, and it usually doesn’t take me very long to find it. I love that I can stream an episode of The Walking Dead online less than an hour after it’s aired on TV.
But sometimes I miss renting movies.
At times I can be a nostalgic person. I look back on the things I had as a child, my Ninja Turtles toys, our way bigger Halloween candy, and listening to The Beatles in the backseat.
And how my dad would always tell my brother and me “You know, I saw them live! Twice!” And how at the time it meant absolutely nothing to me…
And now it does.
Going to the video store to rent a movie is something I grew up with, and it really hasn’t been gone that long, and even though we can now conveniently watch anything we want at a moment’s notice, there was something adventurous about it.
For us, it was a family outing. It was a rare occurrence that that the store would have the film we were looking for, and when we gave up on that, it was even more rare any of us would ever find anything good.
But those times…the times when we would walk in looking for Rambo First Blood, and they would have Rambo First Blood! It was the greatest! There was a genuine sense of achievement there! And then we’d decide to get Thai takeout because we were in the neighborhood, so we’d come home with an awesomely terrible film, and eat takeout while watching it…That’s what I miss.
You probably had that experience too. (Or something similar.) All I can say is put it in your memory pocket and know that no generation after you will ever understand it. People being born within the past few years will never be able to comprehend that particular of journey, adventure, and victory.
Or maybe… it’s just a long round about way of saying, I miss you Ian.
Maybe a little reblog to help make the sick cat feel better?
I am not a Rob Ford supporter. I didn’t vote for the guy, and I’ve made numerous calls to his office telling him to resign. I think it’s safe to say I disagree with pretty much everything he stands for.
But WHAT IF Rob Ford’s master plan was to get young people interested in politics? What if all of these ridiculous antics were all part of a carefully formulated plot by an unbelievably kindhearted man who used himself as a tool to prove to a generation that there’s something to fight for?… or against? Has he not been successful in this? (Whether or not he intended it)
I hate politics, but he’s got me talkin’ about it.
And even if he is a greedy, lazy, sad, angry, embarrassing, and overall pathetic human being, (and he most certainly is) let’s take the bad with the good. A bad example can sometimes be just as strong as good one! Just look what binge-drinking, crack smoking, and unbridled entitlement gets you! Do you want to be like that when you grow up? No? I didn’t think so. (If you answered yes, then…uh… maybe… reevaluate a little…or don’t…s’up to you…)
All in all, I gotta say I’ve never been so entertained by a political figure before. And though I will be more than happy when he finally resigns, or when he is given the much-deserved boot… I have to admit that part of me will be just a little bit sad. Not because he’ll be missed, but because every event involving him is worse than the one before it. When he’s gone we won’t hear about him anymore and we’ll never truly know how far down the rabbit hole goes…maybe crack-smoking death threats are surface-level.
But seriously, Ford, if by some bizarre off-chance you’re reading this, GTFO.
Hello! Here I am still working away on Tin Canyon. Lots of work to do, and now I’m sick! Down with a sore throat :(
But still I move forward, determined it won’t last long.
It’s been a pretty productive week, lotta work happening on this, but it’s been quite the effort getting all the small stuff outta the way. Rigging, setting up shots, lighting etc. But now most of it is done, and the fun stuff begins!
I hope you enjoy these pieces! Reblog and share them around, tell your friends! This film is gonna be a fun one! Stay tuned for more!
Thanks for all the support, couldn’t do it without YOU!
Oh hello! What a windy day it is in Toronto! There’s a whole bunch of new folks following my Tumblr, I’d like to say hello, and welcome and thank you thank you thank you! I really appreciate the interest in my work. If you have any questions about my process or anything, please feel free to ask!
I’m continuing to work on my backgrounds for my short film of Tin Canyon. It’s been a lot of fun so far! I begin animation next week. Reblog and share these pics with your friends!
Stay nice and warm! It’s getting cold out there!
Mean ol’ Jimmy Timber being all mean and evil and stuff.
